Elite Sports is a California-based company specializes in MMA and martial-arts style fight wear. They have over a decade’s worth of experience serving their customers and have excellent product ratings and reviews on Amazon.

When I agreed to review Elite’s convertible gym bag, I wasn’t sure what to expect. In my mind, I thought it would be like so many other thin, polyester duffel bags I’ve tried in the past.

But I was wrong.

The first thing I noticed was how heavy the shipping box was. I thought maybe they had put some extra filler or padding in the box, but it was only the bag itself. It was a noticeably better quality material than anything I had ever used!

The day after it arrived, we took our family to a local amusement park. I hadn’t planned on putting the bag to the test that day, but I’m so glad I did because it came in handy and kept all of our kids snacks, drinks, and toys within easy reach. In “backpack mode” it was the perfect size to tote around all day and was comfortable to use.

The next day, we converted it into a duffel and used it to carry our adult softball league gear. It was our last game of the season, and we were really wishing we had it the whole time because it made everything so much easier.

Favorite Features

Small easy-reach compartment

The pocket I used the most during our day at the amusement park was the small one at the top of the bag. It was the perfect size to hold my wallet, sunglasses, keys, and made grabbing my phone for a quick picture super easy and convenient.

Built-in backpack straps

The convertible backpack straps are sewn in to the bag and stay in their own zippered pocket! As a busy mom, I love that I don’t have to keep track of the straps when I’m not using them and that they can be tucked and stored away easily. The pocket is also deep enough to be used to store additional items.

Multiple zippered pockets

I mean, can a bag have too many pockets? I don’t think so! This made organizing (and finding) everything we needed on-the-go a breeze. And since they all have zippers, I didn’t worry about something falling out or getting lost.

Initialed quality control tag

I love this feature. My convertible gym bag came with two quality control tags with the initials of the employees who did the final checks of the finished product. I know this is a small thing, but to me, it showed Elite’s commitment to quality and gave the bag a more personal touch.

Wish List

External water bottle holder

In backpack mode, I would have loved to have some sort of mesh external water bottle holder, but that would not have worked for switching into duffel bag mode. There are two long zippered pockets that worked nicely as-is.

Final Thoughts

If Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and other martial arts are your thing, Elite also carries a large selection of fight-wear and cross-training gear. Their best-selling BJJ gi allows for full range of motion while still being form fitting.

Elite’s popular workout shorts feature an inner compression layer and an outer Air pro™ layer, which allow for 4-way stretchability while still being functional and lightweight. They also have a towel/shirt loop in the back (which I thought was unique and creative) as well as an inner phone pocket placed in such a way to keep it out of your way while you’re working out.

If you’re looking for a sturdy, durable, high-quality gym bag…Elite has got you covered! Overall, I was very impressed with Elite’s convertible gym bag and feel confident recommending it. The design is effective and efficient, and the quality and attention to detail is far better than other bags I’ve used in the past.
